PROJECTS

1. KAHAMA MINING: 1MW 6.6kv Digital Soft Starter for Ventilation Fan
   
   400kw 8 pole TECO motor replaced after 4 years service, note heavy layers of contamination from diesel & dirt, caused higher than normal running temp.
   

   New 1000kw 6 pole 6.6kv TEFV motor supplied by Vector from Romania and the unique blower ventilation design and 6.6kv digital starter allowed us to start it up to FOUR [4] times consecutively @ 350% C.L.
   

   The M.E.R. motor was designed with 220% LRT, and is suitable for a 50C ambient. It was specifically designed for operations in Tanzania where severe voltage dips are common and multiple starts may be required. The motor/soft-starter brakes the counter rotating fan from [-170RPM] and takes it up to speed [990RPM] within 20 seconds.
   

   
   
   
2. Portable “E-House” Containers for Tanzania.
   
   Custom designed 20 Ft. high cube container, enabled fast-track start up of two [2] portable E-houses, [2] 1000kw motor & their switchgear. Site commissioning was completed in eight [8] days c/w removal of the smaller 400kw motors & fan balancing.Portable “E-House” Containers for Tanzania

   
   
   
   Interior of insulated & air conditioned 20Ft. high cube with 1200A 6.6kv mains breaker, [2] x 1000kw digital soft starters and a separate station transformer cell. Right hand side has a small combination starter panel and a panel for the Bentley Nevada vibration monitors and fan RTD read-outs. NOTE: our 6.6kv soft starters can be tested & commissioned at 400v-480 v along with a low voltage motor for test operations. Site conditions are 12kw solar gain/ square meter, so our soft starters are designed to allow for a 50C ambient.
   

3. Placer Dome Inc. ZALDIVAR MINE, location Antofagasta CHILE:
   
   Over 200 custom 380V inverters from 1kW to 500kW as well as [11] separate 7.2kV SF6 gas switchgear Secondary Distribution Centers. The mine has now achieved well over 9,000,000 hours of operational duty for the VFDs with only three unit failures.
   
   
   
   
   
4. BHP Diamonds Inc. EKATI MINE, location is NWT of Canada:
   
   1000HP to 1HP systems est. @ 65 units, operational in 1997 with full site commissioning as well as full site training for staff. Vector has been advised that the customer is happy with the reliability of the Yaskawa inverters and very pleased with our After-Sales Services to BHP Ekati. Site has had ZERO failures.
   
   
   
   
   

5. Minn-Dak:
   
   A fully regenerative centrifuge drive system that uses the new IGBT front end converter. The application needed [6] 300HP inverter, a top mounted 2500A DC busbar system and unit isolation c/w cable entry cell with load cable cell.
   
   
   
   
   
   That would allow for any one of three motors to be switched over to a new VFD. The system went operational in July 2000, the nature of the IGBT regenerative system is for almost zero generated harmonics.
   
   
   
   
   
   

6. Bulyanhulu Gold Project:
   
   A Barrick Gold property located in the North-West Shinyanga area of Tanzania. Vector designed and built two 450kW fan drives c/w motors and [12 Pulse] oil filled transformers.
   
   
   
   
   Kahama will also be receiving two [2] 400kW 525V pump drives c/w [2] Teco-Westinghouse motors. All of the Yaskawa VFDs at site will be of the new Modular type, which are very easy to maintain at their remote location.
   
   
   
7. BHP Copper:
   

   Purchased three [3] large conveyor drive packages for their Escondida mine located next to Zaldivar's copper mine in north Chile. The total system was design and built by Yaskawa including all motors.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

8. La Coipa mine of Mantos de Oro, location north of Chile at over 11,000 Feet:
   
   This mine is operated by Placer Dome and was one of our first customers for 7.2kV Yaskawa SF6 gas switchgear. The mine went operational in 1991 and in spite of the very high elevation, the switchgear has operated very well.
   
   
   
   
   

9. We provide at site training in addition to the remote project locations. This covers basic troubleshooting, introduction to the basic Yaskawa G5 class c/w CD-Rom.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   We also deliver expert training for the remote site repairs of the new Modular inverters and converters, if your staff can not make it to Yaskawa's North American training center.
   
   
   

10. Unique application pioneered by Vector in the early 1990's in B.C. mines.
    We installed the first PWM inverters to replace the standard wound rotor drives in portable drilling units. The new Yaskawa VFDs reduced motor failures dramatically and consequently increased drill reliability.
